Gate Valves
-
GATE VALVES are valves that operate by turning a wheel. When the wheel is turned counter-clockwise, the valve opens, thereby removing a round or rectangular wedge out of the path of fluid flowing through a pipe.
ANSI/API 600
-
One of the standards governing gate valves, ANSI/API 600, contains information on valve dimensions, repair procedures, body wall thickness and inspections. It applies only to gate valves used in the oil and natural gas industry.
-
ANSI/API 603
-
The other relevant standard, ANSI/API 603, provides information on corrosion-resistant, bolted bonnet gate valves with flanged or butt-weld ends. The standard applies to various sizes of gate valve.
