Installing Slide Gate Valves
Slide gate valves are used to control water pressure. Due to constant pressure of the water, there are possibilities of wear and tear of any part of the valve or the valve itself. It is recommended that they be checked properly to make sure that everything is fine and should be replaced at the earliest if there are any damages to make sure that there are no major problems.
Step 1: Turn off the Water Supply
Turn off the water supply from the main on both sides from the water meter. Place a bucket and a rag underneath the valve so that you can catch any water that might flow out.
Step 2: Loosen the Nut
Use an adjustable wrench to hold the valve housing firmly. Use an open-ended wrench to make the compression nut loose so that if there is any water pressure, all the water will leak out completely.
Step 3: Loosen the Bonnet
Take an adjustable wrench to remove the stem, which enters into the valve
