The Gate Valves are mostly used for liquid streams. And in the same time the pumps are used to move fluids (liquids, slurries, or gases). A pump displaces a volume by physical or mechanical action. That is why test stands for pump checking are equipped by Gate Valves. Pumps displace fluid, causing a flow. According to the methods for moving a fluid, pumps fall into five major groups: direct lift, displacement, velocity, buoyancy and gravity pumps. Gate valves, established on test stand, help to check displacing process by opening and shutting a gate.
